Vintage-a-Day!

I have worn and collected vintage clothing, accessories, jewelry and what have you for as long as I can remember. It started out with pieces of my mom's and my grammi's clothing and collections that became mine and my collection grew as I did. It still continues to grow today, although I stopped growing years ago!

At the beginning of the 2012, I decided that I should sell vintage pieces on Etsy because I'm constantly finding lovely things that are too big for me (because I'm practically miniature), things that I don't need in my collection exactly (I mean, how many vintage black purses does one need? Oh wait, I guess there is no limit for that one!), etc. I opened a vintage Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/coriluvintage) and began spending way too many hours surfing the web and looking at other vintage collectors. What I began to notice was that I was impressed at how many of the vintage sellers and collectors out there wear so much of their vintage stuff, so much of the time. Then I got embarrassed that I have a lovely and growing collection and yet there are so many days where I don't wear anything vintage at all! What a slacker!

I started trying to pair down the amount of modern clothing that I have in my closet (slash floor because I have way too much to actually fit in the closet!) in hopes that I would wear more vintage clothing. Of course, it's not always practical to wear entirely vintage outfits, but I certainly wanted to try and bring it back into my day-to-day wardrobe. Today, while walking in the rain, wearing pretty much all modern clothing, I realized that I may not be able to post that I wear vintage outfits every day, but I can certainly try to feature at least one vintage item every day! It may just be my shoes or my scarf or a pair of earrings, but I am challenging myself to adding at least one vintage piece to every day. After all, why have it if it stays buried in my closets, jewelry boxes, drawers and shelves! So here's my challenge: I will try to have at least one item of lovely vintage quality and I will try and post it every day(ish).
I'll also do my best to identify what I'm wearing when I post it and where I got it.

And what could possibly be a better way to start than by sharing my vintage outfit from Halloween yesterday? I decided to be Jackie Kennedy (entirely because I wanted to show off my new flowered hat which I bought to go with a dress that I knew I had hanging in my closet!) Here goes:
